Adding a point on vertex in CAD
Welcome to 3Dsurvey tutorials.
In this guide, we’ll demonstrate how to use the Point on Vertex option in the CAD module. This feature is useful when drawing lines and allows you to add points at the endpoints of lines for better organization and classification.

Activating the Point on Vertex Option
To enable this feature:
- Go to Tool Settings while using the Draw Lines Tool.
- Check the box next to Point on Vertex to activate the option.
Configuring Display Options for Points
There are three attributes you can display on points:
- Name: This is the sequential numbering of points. For example, the first point will be named 1, the second 2, and so on.
- Height: Displays the altitude of the point.
- Point Code: Allows you to add custom text or labels to the points.
To activate any of these, check the corresponding boxes in the settings.
Adding Custom Codes to Points
If you want to assign custom labels or codes to your points:
- Enter the text in the provided space below the Point Code checkbox.
- Alternatively, import predefined point codes from a text file:
- Click the Import button in the dropdown menu.
- Select the text file containing your codes.
Any codes you input manually will be saved in the dropdown menu for future use, eliminating the need to rewrite them.
Using Custom Codes with Other Tools
The Custom Code option isn’t limited to the Draw Lines Tool. You can also use it with the Draw Points Tool for consistent labeling across different elements.
That’s all for this tutorial on using the Point on Vertex feature. It’s a simple yet effective tool for adding clarity and structure to your CAD projects.
