Importing Orthophotos and DXF Files into SolarEdge Designer
Learn how to import orthophoto and DXF, produced in 3Dsurvey into SolarEdge designer.
Introduction
Welcome to this 3Dsurvey tutorial on importing orthophotos and DXF files into SolarEdge Designer. This process provides highly accurate visuals and measurements necessary for designing a solar power plant.
Generating the Orthophoto
Capture images with a drone and create a 3D model in 3Dsurvey. Vectorize the roof and generate an orthophoto to import into SolarEdge Designer for accurate site modeling.
Uploading the Orthophoto in SolarEdge Designer
In SolarEdge, open Site Modeling and click the Background Image icon. Select your orthophoto file, which will open an adjustment menu. Though georeferenced, manual pin placement on identifiable points in diagonal corners is required to align it. Make minor adjustments to scale and rotation if needed.
Importing and Adjusting the DXF File
To add vectorized roof measurements, import your DXF file. Select the relevant layers, such as Roof or Obstacles, and place them accurately on the site model. Verify the placements, and if obstacles are not perfectly aligned, select, rotate, and adjust them as needed. SolarEdge doesn’t support line obstacles, so represent them as elongated rectangles.
Final Adjustments and Conclusion
Once aligned, the site model is ready for solar panel placement. This concludes the tutorial; see you next time!
