In this guide, we’ll explore the edit tool within the CAD module. This versatile tool allows you to select and edit elements such as sketches and measurements on a surface. It’s simple to use and packed with powerful options.

Accessing the Edit Tool

To begin using the edit tool:

  1. Click CAD in the upper-right selection menu.
  2. Select the Edit Tool icon in the top-left corner of the menu.

Selecting Elements

  • You can select a single element or multiple elements to edit.
  • Use the dropdown menu beside the edit icon to:
    • Select Similar: Choose elements of the same type.
    • Select Similar in the Same Layer: Choose elements of the same type within a specific layer.

Editing Elements

Moving Points

To move a point:

  1. Click on the point you want to move.
  2. Select the target location using Snapper Settings on the right.
  3. Available snapping options:
    • Point: Snap to any point in the point cloud.
    • Endpoint: Snap to the endpoint of an existing line.
    • Midpoint: Snap to the midpoint of an existing line.
    • Nearest: Snap to any point on an existing line.
    • Center: Snap to the center of an existing circle.
    • Triangle: Snap to a point on the surface of a 3D mesh (ensure the mesh is visible).

💡 Tip: If you know exactly where the point should go, enable only the snapping option you need for precision.
4. Left-click the point to move it and left-click the target location.
5. Confirm your action by right-clicking.

Modifying Selected Elements

Using Element Properties

Under Element Properties (bottom-right corner), you can view and edit details of selected elements:

  1. General Settings:

    • Layer: Double-click to change the element’s layer.
    • Color: Choose a custom color or set it by layer.
    • Line Weight: Adjust the thickness of the line, or set it by layer.
  2. Attributes:

    • View whether a line is closed.
  3. Geometry:

    • Edit geometric properties like line coordinates.
  4. Display Options:

    • Choose to show or hide details such as:
      • 3D Distance
      • 2D Distance
      • Slope
      • Height
    • Adjust font style and size for displayed information.

The edit tool in the CAD module provides everything you need to refine your measurements and sketches with precision. Take advantage of the flexibility it offers to optimize your workflow.
