Placing the structure into space based on a geodetical plan is often one of the architect’s more arduous tasks. The location and direction of a structure need to be defined based on a couple of points that the geodesist records in the field. Modern programs enable near-realistic visualization and much improved representation of the structure in question. 3D data enable various measurements between existing and envisaged structures, shadow simulations (which then affect the planned structure) etc.
